What is Cellulite?
Cellulite is the unsightly lumpy, dimpled (cottage cheese or orange peel) appearance of skin. Cellulite consists of fat deposits that appear primarily on the hips, thighs and buttocks. What causes Cellulite?
The skin’s connective tissue surrounds fat cells which are arranged in chambers. The walls of these chambers are called septae. Over time, fat cells increase in size and number and they, along with the accumulation of localized edema (tissue swelling), push the skin’s surface between the septae in an upward direction. This is what creates the lumpy and dimpled skin appearance associated with cellulite.

VelaShape™ treatments are initially best delivered in a series of 4 (once or twice weekly) sessions. Gradual improvement in skin tone and contour can be expected after a series of 4 treatment sessions, but maintenance treatments are often advocated in order to enhance the results. Maintenance sessions can be delivered singly or in repeat series depending on an individual’s clinical response and preference.
