The Best Facial Fillers for Treating Fine Lines

The progress of facial lines and wrinkles is part of getting older; skin elasticity diminishes, and you begin to look older than you feel. However, there are ways to combat drooping skin and deep facial wrinkles. Dermal fillers are one of the most popular ways to smooth and fill skin. Botox injections and dermal fillers are popular methods of wrinkle treatment that can make your complexion appear more youthful without needing surgical intervention. At Newport Beach MedSpa, Dr. Csepanyi offers various therapies to help you reveal a more youthful appearance.

For many of our patients, smoothing frown and smile lines and drooping skin around the mouth is high on their cosmetic treatment wish list. The appearance of a deep-seated scowl can make you look older than you are, which is why we recommend the following dermal fillers to target lines around your mouth.

Juvederm® XC & Restylane®

Juvederm and Restylane are natural, biodegradable gels injected into the skin for the treatment of wrinkles. They are referred to as dermal fillers because of their ability to “fill” fine lines and wrinkles, so your skin appears smoother and more youthful. The different texture of each product gives them different strengths. Restylane is excellent for treating lips, cheeks, the nose area, and even hands. Juvederm can target fine lines in tight facial regions.

During treatment, hyaluronic acid is injected directly into the area of a deep wrinkle along your lips and mouth. The gel plumps the skin, helps to restore facial volume and makes wrinkles less and prominent. Dermal fillers are a safe method for producing instantly smoother skin. A Juvederm injection only takes a few minutes, and it does not pose a risk for scarring. The natural-looking results can last for up to 6 months.

Xeomin®

This filler contains a neurotoxin like Botox and can treat similar cosmetic concerns. It is especially useful on frown lines between the eyebrows and can also work on crow’s feet. Xeomin is botulinum toxin type A without any additional ingredients. The process used to manufacture Xeomin is technologically advanced to produce a raw injectable protein with fewer molecules. If you are sensitive and prone to allergic reactions, Xeomin may be the better option for you.

The cost of Xeomin is roughly the same as Botox, and treatment lasts three to four months. Some comment that Xeomin kicks in a little quicker than Botox and produces a little less tightness in the treatment area.

Voluma® XC

Another typical cosmetic issue that occurs is loosening skin and loss of cheek volume. Voluma is a dermal filler from the same product family as Juvéderm, uniquely designed to lift the midface area. These non-invasive injections to achieve what was once accomplished only through surgical procedures. Patients who undergo Voluma treatment notice that they look more youthful due to having better-defined facial features.

Radiesse®

This dermal filler helps your body produce more of its collagen, so you get smoother skin and longer-lasting results. Radiesse works on the deepest lines and wrinkles and is used in areas like the corners of your mouth, chin, smile lines, and even jowl areas.

BOTOX®

This treatment is most famous for its ability to target lines around your mouth due to aging or repetitive frowning. Botox is a naturally formed protein that is safe for injecting in small amounts. During treatment, the doctor or staff places an anesthetic cream on your skin, then injects Botox into the target area. The filler blocks the nerve impulses and relaxes the muscles beneath the lines. As the muscle stays relaxed, the wrinkle becomes less prominent.

Botox is a safe and effective solution for superficial signs of aging on the face. Problems areas commonly treated with Botox include crow’s feet, smile lines, or forehead wrinkles. Like Juvederm treatment, Botox injections are quick and straightforward. When you apply ice following your procedure, side effects are minimal; however, you will need to use caution when applying cosmetics and avoid strenuous physical activity for a few hours after the procedure. Botox can produce dramatic results quickly, and the benefits typically last for 3-6 months.

Which Dermal Filler is Right For Me?

Only a certified cosmetic surgeon can help you decide which injectable filler is the best choice for your particular concerns. The cost of your dermal filler treatment depends on your goals. Your surgeon will discuss all your options with you before beginning treatment, including smile lines and other facial wrinkles. Each treatment provides visible improvements for your skin’s appearance, yet there are unique benefits to each.
